Summary Position
The First Steps Data Entry is charged with the data entry and office procedures of First Steps administrative office. CSS shall serve as the System Point of Entry (SPOE) for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) covering the contracted SPOE region.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for answering the phone in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Responsible for returning phone calls and e-mail messages within a timely manner.
- Responsible for taking initial intake/referral information from referral sources and families and opening the child’s early intervention record in the CCM and inputting information.
- Maintain CSS – First Steps Program Infant Tracking System, including follow-up calls to families.
- Assist Service Coordinator in maintaining and updating the child’s early intervention records.
- Maintain and organize confidential HIPAA and FERPA compliant files and data.
- Input data and information for electronic Web-SPOE Child Care Management records within two (2) working days.
- Assist Service Coordinators in upholding compliance standards and indicators.
- Assist Service Coordinators with data input and entry when appropriate.
- Assist the SPOE Director with data, logging documentation, and reports as directed.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Through knowledge of Missouri’s First Steps system, philosophy, rules and regulations.
- Work with and respect persons with developmental disabilities.
- Exercise good judgment and discretion.
- Effectively utilize problem solving negotiation and mediation skills.
- Possess good organizational and time management skills.
- Possess the ability to efficiently use a computer.
- Possess good documentation skills.
Required Education
- High school diploma or GED. Credential requirements for Data Support as delineated in Missouri’s First Steps system Personnel Guide for Early Intervention
Qualifications
- Obtain and maintain all Module Trainings developed, FERPA Training, and Mandated Reporter training as required.
- A valid driver’s license, clear background screen and proof of current auto insurance
Physical Requirements
- All employees should possess the ability to:
- Lift 50 pounds or more on a repeated basis as required.
- Potentially bend, stoop, kneel, and twist repeatedly.
- Operate any required equipment with good dexterity.
- Traverse changing terrain.
- Periodically alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.
